City of Canning Pamper Day
In early September, the City of Canning warmly hosted an Everlasting Elders Pamper Day at the Civic Centre.
Our Elders were treated to soothing massages, hair styling by Maurice Meade, and make-up, nails and skincare delivered by the talented students of Sevenoaks Senior College. Laughter filled the rooms and the smiles said it all—our Elders were truly pampered.
Just as special were the moments between Elders and young Aboriginal students. Across the day, they yarned, found family links, and shared stories and culture. These intergenerational connections are powerful: they build confidence in our young people, honour Elders’ knowledge, and strengthen community ties.
Heartfelt thanks to the City of Canning for hosting and supporting the day, to Maurice Meade for their generosity, and to the Sevenoaks students and staff for the care and respect they brought to every interaction.
The day was a beautiful reminder of what happens when we walk together—culture is shared, spirits are lifted, and community grows stronger.
